Kantana Studio, a pioneer in film production, sought to establish a world-class virtual production volume that would offer filmmakers unprecedented creative freedom and technical precision. The main wall needed to deliver flawless image quality, especially when captured by high-end cameras, while the ceiling display required a specialist design to complete the immersive Extended Reality (xR) environment.

The goal was to move beyond traditional green screen limitations, offering a solution that significantly reduced post-production time and costs while allowing real-time graphic technology to be used within the creative studio. This demands LED technology with exceptionally high refresh rates, fine pixel pitch, and a mechanical structure built for zero-compromise performance.

The PIXREAL Solution: Precision and Purpose-Built Design

PIXREAL supplied a bespoke LED solution, combining our Avatar 2.3 wall panel with the specialised ENZO CL Series for the ceiling, creating an incredible, truly seamless environment.

Avatar 2.3: The Main Wall

For the immense 28-metre by 5-metre main wall, the Avatar Series was chosen for its outstanding performance in film environments. PIXREAL’s commitment to using only the best ICs and LEDs, developed in partnership with high-end component suppliers, ensures top performance when viewed in-camera. This meant the main wall could render reality with remarkable precision, delivering the gold standard for xR and virtual production.

ENZO CL Series: The Ceiling Display

The 94 square meter ceiling was covered using the ENZO CL Series. This product has a specialised mechanical structure, designed specifically for ceiling installations, ensuring all components align perfectly and weight is correctly distributed to get rid of any gaps. The inclusion of an RGBW solution, adding a white emitter, broadens the colour spectrum and provides full wavelength output, a key factor for a realistic lighting ceiling set-up. With a 7,680Hz high refresh rate and 16-Bit Grayscale, the ceiling works in perfect harmony with the main wall.
